I will be right here waiting for you...(sung in a very touchy-feely, sappy sort of way).
Very early on in the creation of our coupledom, that song, sung by Richard Marx, was established as 'our' song. It's totally over the top love-ballady and there was a time, albeit short, when I really wished He-Man's hair would defy gravity the way Marx's did circa late 80s. BUT with all it's emotional oozing, it still gets me all weepy...every time.
You should have seen me when it would pop up on the radio while He-Man was on his LDS mission an ocean and thousands of miles away. I feel sorry for the hapless observer (who would've been in the car next to mine)...crazy lady sobbing hysterically to the point of snotty tears streaming down her mascara stained face.
Probably not my proudest moment...nor my prettiest.
Fast forward a few years, we danced to that song on our wedding day along with 'Storybook Love' by Willy Deville. Naturally, to me they are two of the most romantic songs EVER. In the 12 years we've been married, there have been a few more songs that have made that list...
'Book of Love' by Peter Gabriel (STUNNINGLY gorgeous song)
'The Riddle' by Five for Fighting
'Remember When' by Alan Jackson
'Rhythm of Love' by The Plain White T's
In celebration of our Anniversary, He-Man and I are going on an overnighter to an undisclosed location very soon. I would love to add to this list for our trip. What do you think is the most romantic song ever?
Each person who suggests 1 song on this blog or on my facebook page between May 20th and 27th will be entered into my May Drawing. The winner will be randomly chosen from the entries.
The prize? I've got a couple of good things in mind but it will be personalized for the winner. It will also be something gloriously and hopelessly romantic...not in a creepy, scary-man-in-a-trench-coat way but in a makes-you-smile-on-a-rainy-day kind of way.
So put your thinking caps on 'cuz I'm eager to pick your brains.
Go ahead.
I will be right here waiting for you.
(A thousand heart-shaped apologies. I just couldn't help myself)

Our song is 'Keeper of the Stars' by Tracy Bird, so of course I think *it's* the most romantic song ever. :)
I'd have to vote for our song... Moondance by Van Morrison. Seriously awesome. The lyrics are a bit sultry, love it!
I pretty much gag at love songs. "I Knew I Loved You Before I Met You" makes my list of all-time worst. Most of them are cliche and oh so gagarific. However, I do like "Annie's Song" by John Denver.
Lila McCann's "With You". You'll LOVE IT. Phil Collin's "Groovy Kind of Love" (which is our song, by the way), Jon Schmidt's "I Do" (there are words! although he's the piano guy), John Michael Montgomery's "Grundy County Auction" (and change the words as needed to match your own hair and eyes :D) and his "Home to You" (oh, so good!!!).
Seriously, I could go on and on. Do you remember the songs that were playing in the background at our open house? When we were engaged we compiled FIVE discs of love songs. I could send you a huge list, if you really want. :D
Have lots of fun! We still have yet to do a night (or nights for that matter) out without kids. Someday soon?!
Well my dear in my totally unconventional way my song is totally unconventional. When my husband and I were first married he was out of town for work (A LOT!!) That being said our song quickly became "Wake up" by Coheed and Cambria. Not your typical love song but terribly meaningful to me. Sorry don't do the sappy smooshy crud real well, but you should google it and listen to it, I believe you of all people will appreciate the loving feelings involved :)
I realize that I may be alone...but I love love the oldies. So my favorite romantic love songs are, The Beatles...I Will and The Bee-gees...Words. Such great songs!
I don't know how romantic you would find it but I love "Crazy For This Girl" by Evan and Jaron. It came out around the time Kirk and I started dating and everytime I heard it I would think of him and wish that that was the way he felt about me. After he and I went on our first date his sister and I were talking and she told me that he would always listen to that song because it reminded him of me. I freaked out and told her that I loved that song for the same reason. Kind of...
"Remember When," that you already listed, is one of my favs.
Since I was a kid, I've been fond of "Glory of Love" by Peter Cetera.
"Forever and Ever, Amen"- Randy Travis
"I'm Already There"- Lonestar
"Keeper of the Stars"- Tracy Byrd
"This Kiss"- Faith Hill
I prefer country. How'd you know? :D
You crack me up Trishelle!! I love "Standing right next to me" by Karla Bonoff. I also love "I could not ask for more" by sarah Evans. Have fun on your getaway. Love those weekend trips!
Still the One by Shania Twain. That is what I am thinking about my husband today on our 9th anniversary.
I love a good syrupy love song too! These are probably way too old ... Our 'sappy song' (way before you were even born) ... "Love Will Keep Us Together" by Captain and Tennille.
We also like "Could I Have This Dance" by Anne Murray (we sometimes even dance when we're together while its playing).
I love the song "Fast cars and Freedom" by Rascal Flatts but when I get to thinking about it, "My Wish" and "I Won't Let Go" are even better- they get me crying every time I hear them.
When you Say Nothing at All when sung by Alison Krauss
Our song is "Crazy Love". We danced to the Aaron Neville version on our wedding day, but now Michael Buble' has a MUCH better version! Our other song, the one that we actually met to, is "I'm Gonna Be"("I Would Walk 500 Miles") by The Proclaimers. Kind of silly for a couple's song, but holds fond memories for me!
Bruno Mars-Just the way you are. We have "our" song but we try to come up with one for each year of marriage to show how much we have grown and "matured". lol.
Congrats on 12 years!!! Enjoy your time away in your undisclosed location. I'll look forward to hearing about after the fact.
my mom and dads song is wind beneath my wings, Bette midler
we have a john Denver song as our song "lady"
but every few years we get a new "song"
"bubbly" by colbie caillat is one of our songs,
"Stuck like glue"- sugarland I love.
when you come I will have to get joe to play my fave it is the one he wrote me it is so sweet but there is no recording so you can only hear it live.:)
Amazed by Lone Star and my personal favorite When you say nothing at all-the Allison Krauss and Union Station version. (That was our wedding song!)
Our song is "What I Meant to Say" by Donny Osmond. Phil especially likes it because he doesn't verbally express his deepest feelings. It is a beautiful love song.
Personally, I would say,
"Forever and Ever, Amen" by Randy Travis
"I Swear" by All 4 One and all the many other people who recorded it.
"Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion
"Don't Take Away My Heaven" by Aaron Neville
and my favorite from when I was a kid, it's not really an "in love" song but rather an "I wish you loved me" song. "I Like Dreamin'" by Kenny Nolan.
I have 2 for you...our song is "Angel" by Robbie Williams, but I also love the song adam sandler sings on wedding singer..."I wanna grow old with you"
"Keeper of the Stars" is also "our" song. When it happened, I had no idea that would be so trendy! I also love "Little Houses" by Doug Stone (particularly applicable to my situation ;)), "Lucky" by Jason Mraz and Colbie Callait, "Never, My Love" by The Association (an oldie), "Wonderful Tonight" by Eric Clapton, "Yellow" by Coldplay (sounds weird, but just listen to the lyrics), "Rebecca Lynn" by Brian White, "Change the World" by Eric Clapton, "Have A Little Faith in Me" by Jewel, "God Only Knows" by The Beach Boys, "Me and You" by Kenny Chesney, "The Way You Love Me" by John Michael Montgomery, "I Melt" by Rascal Flatts (if you're looking for something a little steamier), "Deeper Than the Holler" by Randy Travis, "If Ever I Would Leave You" from Camelot, "All I Ask of You" from Phantom, "No, No, No" by Colors, "My House" by Randy Travis, "Bring It On Home" by Little Big Town, "Now That I Found You" by Terri Clark, "You're Timeless To Me" from Hairspray, "Going, Going, Gone" by Neal McCoy. Do you need more? Cause I have more! I bet you always regret asking this kind of thing when I answer you with a novel... ;)
'if i ain't got you' by alicia keys; 'the luckiest' by ben folds;
'so are you to me' by eastmountainsouth;
'answer' by sarah mclachlan.
and many more
but for one that can be both cheesy and teary- make me smile on a rainy day- i'd vote for 'lucky' by jason mraz and colbie caillat. bc 'i'm lucky i'm in love with my best friend.' :)
Well...as you know ours was also Story Book Love, but one that we both love is To Make You Feel My Love. It makes me melt every time I hear it:) Good Luck!
I have always loved the song "more than words" by extreme no big story behind it, I just like the acoustic guitar and the vocal harmonies.

I have always loved "More than Words" by Extreme
No big story I just like it.
I have tons of favorite gushy love songs. There are a few that are especially meaningful. Danny's Song by Kenny Loggins makes me sway every time, Take My Breath Away from Top Gun, and Fallin' From Graceland by Richie Sambora are a a few of my favorites.
But one of new my favorites is "Start a Fire" by Ryan Star. It is full of passion and heat and fits us right now. :)
Really, if you want a good make out song, listen to Richie Sambora's "Fallin' From Graceland". It has romance and love, and leaves me wanting more every time. If you don't know, Richie is the guitarist for Bon Jovi. A legend in his own time, really. :) *GRIN*
And I spelled it wrong. It's "Fallen From Graceland." :)
Our song is "Amazed" by Lone Star. It was really popular while we were dating and just seemed to say what was in my heart. :)
I didn't read through all of them, but most love songs are pretty sappy. BUT, there are some that I love. How about "when you say nothing at all" (I think this was already mentioned), but my real vote is for "Valentine" by Jim Brickman - to listen to it is to love it! :) (Heather White)
I get carried back to dance with then friend Christopher, who later became my husband when I hear this song:
Everything I Do:
Look into my eyes - you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart - search your soul
And when you find me there you'll search no more
Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for
You know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you
Look into your heart - you will find
There's nothin' there to hide
Take me as I am - take my life
I would give it all - I would sacrifice
Don't tell me it's not worth fightin' for
I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more
Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you
There's no love - like your love
And no other - could give more love
There's nowhere - unless you're there
All the time - all the way
Oh - you can't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
I can't help it - there's nothin' I want more
I would fight for you - I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you - ya I'd die for you
Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you
Also because of my second language I really like to sign to Christopher the emotions and lyrics to "When You Say nothing at All" and "More than Words". I beleive someone already mentioned these and they are awesome songs but Bryan Adams takes me back to a place where I knew and he knew but we never acted on it.
Not sure if it was mentioned, but Jer and I always dance to "Angel" by Sarah McLaughlin (spell???). And also "Kiss from a Rose" by Seal. <3 <3
TOO hard to pick just one!!!!
I would say my "All the way" by Frank Sinatra!!
I also love "Sweet Rose" by Matt Costa and "Bless the Broken Road" by rascal flatts. We had both of those on our wedding cd.
HOW DID I MISS SEEING THIS??? I still want to play. Our "song" is "Oh" by Dave Matthews. And "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds is now one of my favs, its SO SWEET!
